New Backstory Boards

BackStory-HulaLamp-WEB

So I think I finally figured out how exactly my Bunny gets to the show. I think this composition works. I was working that out still on Thursday. Here’s my shot list:

Shot 1: Mid-Est shot: Bunny hops up onto table, there is a magazine and a hula lamp on the table. She reads the magazine.
Shot 2: Close up on the DANCERS WANTED ad for the “Amateur Dance Night”
Shot 3: Close up of Bunny’s face, with stars in her eyes.
Shot 4: Same as shot one, Bunny reaches over and turns off the lamp
BLACK OUT: we hear paper ripping and rustling of a grass skirt.
Shot 5: Same as shot four, except the Bunny is gone, the Hula Lamp girl is naked (Barbie style) and the ad is ripped out of the magazine.

can u feel me?

here's my udpate. i added a bit of animation plus some key frames. i was gonna finish the key frames, but i changed my mind, so i'm gonna rethink one of the choreography to make it more dynamic. anyways, here it is:

small bird test XD i'm still really reworking the tap dance. for the dance i ended up choosing twos instead of ones and i'm going for a motion feeling instead of exact steps.

B-Boy v3

Just added more in-betweens to give that fluid movement. Just a little more than halfway there with the dance sequence. The one thing that bothers me is how it goes by a little too fast for the audience to comprehend the footwork. You can see it in slow motion though.

Bunny v6

Still have to do the same things I listed last week. I added an ear toss at the beginning as an opener.

Here’s some snapshots of my thumbnails for this week:

2010-10-21 tailtwirl

I have to work on the follwoing on my next pass:

1. Make opening pose better, moving hold
2. Fix the odd hip pops in the beginning hula
3. Follow through on the ears
4. Fix the hip swings
5. FIx the tail swirls and one leg hop

I’d also like to get the hula into a cycle so I have to add some drawings in for that.

Ryan's Stuff

Not really sure how to use this blog thing that well so I'll just hope everything is suppose to be posted here.

Link to the most recent update for backstory: http://www.knocknak.com/osakoda/KodaBackstory.mov

Still need to upload the current dance portion but the net here sucks so later.

Character Designs for the butler and maid, and for the main character young and old.

First rough pass with timing

Currently, I'm working on the transitional poses to connect each sequence fluidly. In the video below, I have the first set of top rocks followed by the airflares, to a little ground footwork, to the final headspin. I'm still working on fixing the position of the character in the first section of the clip. I also did a couple more in-betweens on the first section.

update

smaller file sizes since the other one seemed too big.

Bunny Hula Progress

Here’s where I’m at with the bunny, had to stop at her turnaround. Other stupid non-animation homework assignments. >.<  Bah.

Back to square one...

After some great advice from Mike, I've decided to redraw all my frames. Now the character can be more animated with much better movements thanks to the movement and follow through of the clothes. I am also able to play around with some squash and stretches. I'm still working on the extremes and more frames to hold some of the anticipation in the animation.

Anyway, this is just an updated version of the first dance sequence. I've decided to have a cut where the judges react to the kid dancing (Don't mind the silhouette pic. It's just a filler). Then it cuts back to the kid doing even crazier moves. I feel the flow would be better this way rather than a continuous shot. What do you guys think?
